It is an Electronic Travel Authorization granted online through the web-based visa system operated by Sri Lanka Immigration.
ETAs are issued only for short visits to Sri Lanka for business, tourism and transit purposes.
Visit the home page and click “Apply Now.”
You can obtain an ETA even before booking your flight tickets.
If you have already applied for an ETA, you can check its current status on this website using your reference number. You may also contact us by email.
An ETA is not a prerequisite for boarding a flight or vessel to Sri Lanka.
This website follows the principles set out in our Privacy Statement. Only the data needed to process your application is collected, and it is used solely for that purpose. Your ETA application data is stored on our secure servers.
If you already hold a valid residence visa or multiple-entry visa, you cannot submit a new ETA application until that visa expires or is cancelled.
An ETA is valid for six months and you cannot obtain a new ETA on the same passport before it expires. If you lose the passport containing a valid ETA, you may pay the fee again to apply for a new one.
While in Sri Lanka, you cannot obtain a new ETA — whether your current ETA is valid or expired.
If your ETA application is not approved, it is referred to the nearest Sri Lankan overseas mission, whom you may contact for further assistance.
It is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Once an application is submitted, processed and paid for, you cannot cancel the transaction and the payment is non-refundable. Please make sure you enter your details correctly. If you make a mistake, correct it before confirming. Once you confirm, a non-refundable service fee is charged. If you discover a mistake later, you will have to resubmit the application and pay the fee again.
